Versilia : Forte dei MarmiForte dei Marmi
A seaside resort among the most popular Tyrrhenian ones, Forte dei Marmi is located around a jetty set up during the sixteenth century to ship the apuan marbles. Since 1788 this has been sheltered through an outpost which had been built by Leopoldo I and is still visible in the middle of Garibaldi Square. Just about every european noble but also diplomats, businness-men and managers, artists and V.I.P.s had their bautiful villas, protected by the greenery of the pinewoods, built in this zone. Moreover they chose its sandy beaches to spend their holidays and to relax themselves.
During the last century Forte dei Marmi has become a famous tourist resort and its value is recognized all over the world: although a part of the original environment has been turned into enchanting gardens, kitchen gardens and luxuriant meadows sorrounding beautiful villas, the man-nature relationship has been kept intact.
Nature even dominates man, whose often careless and abusing presence it reshapes. From Forte dei Marmi a tourist can rediscover many historical and cultural architectural evidences, enchanting villages situated on the numerous valleys or on the hills and enjoy the spell of the Apuan Alps
The hotels in Forte dei Marmi are well depicted in this web-site which I hope to be a useful incentive for you to be our guests. Versilia offers the tourist the possibility to play the sport he/she likes best: mounteneering, sailing and may others.
The Apuan Alps allow the climbers, either traditional or free-climbing, to make very interesting climbs. Moreover the Apuan Alps allow the hiker to cover itineraries in every season and of every level.

Versilia Coast : Marina di PietrasantaMarina di Pietrasanta
As a seaside resort Marina di Pietrasanta has a peculiarity: it owns, in an harmonious whole, the most beautiful natural beauties. Each of these, if considered by itself, could be vaunt of every tourist resort. The sea, the beach, the pinewoods and the mountains are the elements that, in a range of few kms, offer a wonderful landscape in an atmosphere of quite relax. Marina di Pietrasanta comprehends Focette, Motrone, Tonfano and Fiumetto (from the south to the north). The first emotion the guest gets in arriving in Marina di Pietrasanta derives from the sight of the beach and the sea. A wide and sandy beach stretching for about five kms, so large in some points to reach 200 mts; a transparent blue sea whose depth degrades sweetly, so that it seems to be too familiar even to the most unskilled of the swimmers.

Lido di Camaiore
Lido di Camaioreis the charming modern beach of the historical centre of Camaiore. It is situated in a quiet zone on the sea between Viareggio and Marina di Pietrasanta. This place has become famous for the wide beach with its fine and golden sand and for its inland.
An incomparable scenery with its fertile hills and the peaks of the Apuan Alps standing out in the deep blue sky. The seaside equipments are the most modern and functional. They can be reached through a beautiful
promenade rich in flowerbeds, palms, pubs and premises. The avenue along the coast, just after the promenade is used also as free parking zone. Moreover beautiful hotels allow a wide sea view.

Viareggio
Elegant and refined Viareggio is one of the more famous coast resorts in Versilia and a tourist destination known all over the world. It is an amusement-centre, the country of the Carnival and of the night-refinement with its advanced anf first-rate night-clubs and premises. The night lights make room for a lively and coloured landscape in summer and for wonderful sunsets and tranquillity in winter. Anyway Viareggio is always the right place to visit as it displays, during every season, different kinds of tourist attractions. The historical traditions are scanty: its name derives from the tower in Via Regia, which was built during the XVth century by the inhabitants of Lucca. In that period, once the Burlamacca's outlet had been make in working order, the arbour become lively and trading was set going. Anyway the real industrial growth starts only some centuries later and was based mostly on shipyards.
Versilia coast - Viareggio The sea, the big ally of the inhabitants of Viareggio, constituted the starting-point to build the fishermen's boats. The development and growing of the town have caused that, nowadays, yachts and posh boats are designed and built in the same shipyards. Anyhow tourism is still Viareggio' strenght: you only have to note that in the beginning of the 20th century the bathing huts reached already 3000 units, to see the neverending development of this tourist resort . The landscape is unique thanks either to the greenery of the hills, the pinewoods, the blue sea and the carnival which enlivens this town every year through a long parade. Custom, actuality and policy are the targets of the organizers' imagination.
The carnival was born in 1873 and is as famous as the Rio carnival. Another important local tradition is the Literature Award (created in 1929 by Leonida Rapaci) still following the development of our literature. The architecture in Viareggio is not very interesting due to its mogenious art-nouveau style designed by the architect Belluomini and to the ceramics by Galileo and Chino Chini. It's worth visiting Matilde's tower and Shelley Square where you can see a bust representing the poet.

Torre del Lago
Wide sandy beach under the sun near a green, shady pine-wood and the lake."This is Paradise", exclaimed Giacomo Puccini when he first came here in a shooting party wiht some friends.Today this lovely part of Tuscany still preserves its natural landscape and is an excellent place for a relaxing holiday. Being ideally situated between Lake Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian sea and in closeproximity to the Apuan Alps and the Migliarino-S.Rossore-Massaciuccoli Natural Park, Torre del Lago Puccini is the perfect point of departure for trips in the area or to the art centres and

The villa where the composer Giacomo Puccini lived houses document and mementos of his life. the annual Opera Festival, which has been held on the lakeside near his house every summer since 1930, combines the suggestive magic of the music and the beautiful setting to make an evening at the opera an unforgettable experience. Torre
del Lago Puccini, also interesting from a naturalistic point of view, is one of the quietest seaside resort along the versilia coast.
